    Project Ideas

The project idea I had, I don’t think will really work for this assignment, so that will have to wait another day. For this project, I love doing tragedy or a style that I have dubbed “fluff falling apart,” namely something that seems simple and quaint at first is actually far more complex than it seems or part of a wider story, where there is far more story than what is told. Sort of a slice-of-life snapshot that, when the camera pulls back, the audience sees a far more dark, dramatic backdrop than the individual the story is focused on. In a way, like the opposite of what Pixar does.…

    Two-week summary

This is technically a summary for two weeks since I did some work over break and I would like credit for it. Daily creates: Radio Show Progress Final Show: Death of the Painter Comments: No comments this week, but as people post their final shows I will try to comment on them. That’s all folks!

    Death of the Painter

Here is the final version of our show, Death of the Painter. I included a Google Drive link because the Soundcloud doesn’t work. We have credits at the end, but I worked with Wade, Hermela, Jenny, Amy, RJ, and Ellie. https://drive.google.com/file/d/10wSw5uYO0wY5kIJWd0mpjkT4fknG5i39/view

    Radio show week 2

These past two weeks, I wrote Act II of our show and recorded lines for two characters. We all got together and recorded in person, and then Wade mixed it. It wasn’t a lot of complex work for me this week, but it did take me a while.

    It’s Spring Break

It’s spring break y’all, this is going to be a short summary. This week was a lot of meetings (I think two-thirds were unnecessary, but my team may disagree) so I don’t have much to link to. I talked about it here. I did the design project. I also did this assignment to get better with Audacity and this one to check the box for the group/ I commented here, here, here, and here. That’s all I got. Ciao!

    Radio Show Progress Week 1

Alright, I have not done my part yet for the show, but I’m not going to before this is due so I’m just writing this now. This week we planned our show and outlined it as well as assigning roles in the creation process. We have everything set up and outlined/planned. We met in person on Monday to talk about it. We have a timeline, and we came up with some characters as well as how they’re introduced. The hardest part was really creating the plot and getting everyone on the same page. We all had different ideas and it took us a while to realize we weren’t on the…

    Radio Bumper

The prompt This is a fairly straightforward assignment, done out of necessity, so it has a fairly straightforward finished product. We need bumpers for our radio show, so I made one for when we come back from a commercial break. It’s pretty simple. I took some stock music I already had (I have a stash just for this kind of thing, ok?) that was about 15 seconds long. My voice recording wasn’t that long, but luckily there was a bit of a break in the music, so I cut it there and had it fade in quickly so it sounded more natural. I used Audacity. There’s really not much for…

    Gandalf and Pippin

The prompt Ok, this may seem random and like a waste, but I promise it’s not. Our radio show has more characters than we have actors, so I wanted to try my hand at editing voices so they sound like two different people before offering this up as something we could do. I think it worked out pretty well, although there is a little distortion and I would have to keep playing with it to get it perfect. The quote is from The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King by J. R. R. Tolkien. It’s the point where pretty much all hope is lost and Gandalf, the…

    Radio Show Design Project

So, not going to lie, we haven’t actually decided on a name for our show yet, but I thought this name was clever (it’s a play on “death of the author”). Our show is about the murder of Bob Ross and the trial that followed. I drew this by hand in Krita, and although it’s slightly off center from the edges of the file, it is more or less centered on itself. I thought about adding some blood, but I was having trouble with it and I felt like it didn’t need it. If I were to redo it, I would move the eyebrows down a little, but I like…

But I have promises to keep

I have been running around like a chicken with its head cut off all week, and I’m going to keep going until very late tonight, so while I have a moment let me write the summary. Daily Creates: For my assignments, I designed a book cover, a charity poster, the cover of a dime-store noir novel, and this weird contradiction poster. I also did the design thoughts and design blitz. I commented here, here, here, here, here, and here. I think that’s everything. Now I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep. Ciao!
