    Video Essay

I know it’s not the best thing I’ve ever made. Between copyright robots, needing to completely redo my audio, and my computer not really doing what I want it to, things are just not going my way. This isn’t really a format I’m used to and I wasn’t really sure what to do with the video when I’m still talking about a shot. I tried looping it, I tried leaving it blank, I also tried slowing it down but that really lost the effect of the shot. I also definitely fell into the trap of talking about why I liked the scene, although I tried to back up my opinion…

Don’t Mind Me Putting Way Too Much Effort Into My Trailer

I love making movie trailers, so even though this was going to be a quick project, I spent all day on it. There are Easter eggs if you care to look for them. The process was fairly simple: I recorded myself on my laptop camera. The test screen was already downloaded with my editor. The static noise (and the voice cutting through) was my mouth and some heavy filters. I made the logos in Canva.

Project Ideas 2: The One In Which I Hijack The Ideas Of Others For My Own Use

Idea One: From Zoe, the idea of Shadow Fredericksburg. Main Character, who I’m naming Zoe, discovers her hometown is infested with spirits and demons. At first, she sets out to banish them from our plane of existence, but then she realizes that they are trapped here; they don’t want to be here any more than we want them here. Zoe adjusts her hunting gear and sets about helping them cross over. Secondly, from Celia, a Shark Week style documentary, with all the dramatic music and lens flares that come with it, but rather than talking about how scary sharks are, it shows how scary humans are to the sharks. Talk…

    Video Show Plan: Specially Safara

Safara creates a vlog of her daily life after the apocalypse, although she doesn’t recognize it as such since this is the only life she’s ever known. I’m not thinking it’s going to be super scripted, I’d rather adlib so it sounds more natural, but here’s the order of events. Wake up Get ready with me (apocalypse clothes, masking scent, checking the weather, breakfast) Generate electricity (spin the blades of a fan and hook it up to “battery” toolbox) Water plants (need to have several or the carbon dioxide content of the room becomes too high) Quick room tour (other bed is bc old roommate died, leave it made just…

    Conspiracy Theories

I listened to the Conspiracy Theories show on Monday. (Along with several others, but I’m not analyzing those guys.) It definitely gave me the vibes of a podcast more than a scripted radio play like we did, which was kind of cool. I was able to keep track of everyone and where they stood on the various aspects of the theory they were talking about. It was easy to keep track of the flow of conversation and felt very natural, with evidence presented in a fairly logical order. A lot of the evidence provided was images or videos, and they could have done a better job of describing what they…

    Apocalyptic Combination

The original pictureThe original sound I didn’t change anything about the sound, but I paired it (and it’s absurdly-specific description) with Apocalypse Training Camp, which is now not at all what it was. I swapped where the title and text were, and completely changed what it said from an ad for a summer camp preparing for a hypothetical future apocalypse to the sayings of someone actually living in one. I changed it to more closely match the description I wrote of the song, which is now also the video description.

    Gandalf and Pippin Vol 2

The promptThe first attempt I knew I wanted to redo this one and get rid of some of the distortion. I rerecorded the lines, pitched Gandalf down 8% and cut the echo in half (both the delay and the decay were cut in half). Pippin I pitched up roughly 4%. They were slower than they were before, since I fixed some pacing that was bothering me from the first one, so I added the music back in and had it fade out as well as making it significantly quieter.

    Connecting the Daily Creates

Ah yes, I was in a band. 3 quarters of a century ago. We took classic poems, Robert Frost, Emily Dickinson, you know, the classics, we took their poems, and we took the lines, and we made them new. I think my favorite was a ballad we made out of “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” by Robert Frost. It made the woods seem like a temptress distracting a traveler from his mission. Those were the days…
